Understanding Your Customers

A better understanding of your customers is one of the keys to running a successful business. Understanding your customers can help you make your product or service better. Much can be learned about the needs of your customers by listening to them. The social web is making it easier for companies to hear what their customers have to say, even before they are customers.

In the past, companies would have to conduct extensive market research and purchase expensive market reports to help them understand their target market; today it is as simple as typing in a keyword into Technorati, or any of the other blog search engines. You can even go to social networking sites like Digg, Delicious, 43things, MySpace, and Friendster, to perform keyword searches so you can get a better understanding of what the needs of your customers are. What is even more compelling is that this information is straight from the mouths of millions of potential customers.

The voices of your customers are getting louder; start listening!
