For those unfamiliar with Google Calendar, here’s a brief rundown of its capabilities. First, being attached to your Google account, the Google Calendar allows you access from any computer where you log in. You can also synchronize the Google Calendar with Android devices and, with a little extra effort, other smartphones or tablets. It’s fairly simple to set up new events in your calendar, either placing them at specific hours throughout the day (as with a normal schedule), as all-day events, or as part of your tasks list. You can create multiple calendars, share calendars with others, and even access a number of public calendars.
Add one more item to that list: color-coding your entire schedule. It was previously possible to color-code your events only if you created multiple calendars, each with its own color. It was then necessary to assign each new task to a specific calendar to gain the extra visual organization. But this in-demand feature has now been added in a much simpler form. Google Calendar users can simply follow these steps to add a dash of color:
- Open Google Calendar in a standard web browser (i.e., not a mobile version of the calendar).
- Click on the event you want to change.
- Click on the color-box to the left of the event title.
- Click on the new color you’d like to use (there are eight available beyond the default you selected for your calendar).
It’s as easy as that. Users should note, however, that not everyone who views their calendar will be able to see the colors. Rather, only those flagged as owners and editors can see the visual distinctions. The color-coding feature, released on May 9th, should be fully rolled out by the end of the day on May 10th to all Google Calendar and Google Apps users.

Very helpful and informative post. Can i use multiple calendars to color-code your events for easy organization? Thanks for sharing.
