Yuwie: Getting Paid to Network - Could it Work?
Yuwie is a relatively new social networking site and has really taken off. The site doesn't differentiate itself with the features it offers or the market that it trying to capture. On the contrary, Yuwie differentiates itself by paying its members for using the site for every action they take on the site, and even the actions resulting from them.
Once you sign up with the site, you have several different options accessible via icons displayed on the left-hand side.

These options include messages, friends, pictures, blog, schools, clubs, and favorites. As you can see, nothing new there, in fact these same features and many more are already available on other sites, but that's not the point. Yuwie has a detailed set of videos that explains how they are 'changing the game' by paying their users for 'playing around on the internet'. So how exactly are they changing the game? Let's see.
Why do I get paid?
Yuwie argues that others social networking sites are making an estimated $20 million a month while the users do all the work (social media ain't it?) and that unlike these other sites, they want to share there revenue with the users.
What do I get paid for?
You get paid for every action you take on the site. Every change you make to your profile, every picture/blog/video you post, and not only that, you get paid for every time another user looks at your profile or content that you have created or posted. On the 15th of each month, Yuwie decides (based on how much they made in the previous month) how much will be given out to each user, an amount that you can track from the 'earnings' section of your profile.
The revenue share rate for the month of August was $0.47 per thousand views.
How much money can I make?
While the amount of you make depends on how much you interact with the site, here is a look at sample earnings based on the 10 levels of referrals and assuming a revenue-sharing rate of $0.50.

Seems like a great idea. With most of the features of your average social networking site offered on Yuwie and the added benefit of getting paid to do what you're already doing, does the prospect of making money while making friends seem enticing?

Nope, it doesn't look enticing. It looks like we will have more blog spam and more forum spam with people trying to post their referral links everywhere.
Bad idea...

Looks like another pyramid scheme. 20,000 referrals and 20 million impressions for a measly $1,000? Why don't I put that effort into generating those users/impressions on my own site and make $40,000+?

"You get paid for every action you take on the site. Every change you make to your profile, every picture/blog/video you post,..."
Which is an open invitation for someone to write a Bot to do just that kind of thing and more, which in turn invites more Bots and more Bots and more Bots.
Let's hope they can afford to pay their service provider for their bandwidth...

It's very risky to start a pyramid schema like that. When users realize that they are just the base of the pyramid and it is not money worthly at all, they can suddenly lose traffic.

Yes, bots could cause a lot of problems for Yuwie. So does anyone have an invite?

I think it'd be better to pay users for adverts on their MySpaces.
A friend asked me to join Yuwie but I frankly doubt it'd make me $1!

I've since given Yuwie some more thought, and I think there's an outside chance that the idea they've given birth to could open up the way for monetizing Social Media for the content producers, such as website authors and 'bloggers.
However, the current business model of Yuwie is essentially MLM (Multi-Level Marketing), which will send most seriously-minded individuals fleeing for the hills.
So obviously, the current business model is a stinker. But the idea is a seed, which I'm sure will grow...

I joined Yuwie the other day. So far I have done only things on that site that I would on a non-paying site. If I get paid even a little that would be nice ... and if I don't I'm still communicating with my friends and wasting a little bit a time (grin)
My first thought when I saw how they paid was social networking meets MLM (grin) ...
I think of it this way ... multiple streams of income even at a few dollars per month is better than no dollars per month (grin) ...
now will it work in the long run? I have a hunch it'll mutate .. but I see the Yuwie is leading the way (smile)

I joined Yuwie the other day and have been quite happy with it so far. In fact, I've been using it a lot more lately than I have my Myface or Facebook accounts.
So we'll see how it goes. If the revenue sharing rate stays anywhere remotely near where it's been lately then I should make a killing each month. I'm already down to the 4th level since posting about it on my blog the other day and I've met some really cool new people as well. So we shall see.
Shine on, Aaron

Another pyramid scheme? Great. It's not worth the pennies that you might earn from spamming everywhere.

I got an invite from a spammer, and I decided to see what it was, turned out to be a pyramid scheme social network, the first ever online? Kind of surprised me... I didn't join yet. I always run away from pyramid scheme because I encountered few of them in my life. Though I know one thing for sure, the pyramid scheme only work if you have enough members under your belly, and hope you don't run out of members since other competitors within the Yuwie network probably out there spamming to get more members under their bellies.

Seriously, its a social network...not a retirement plan. Watch the intro videos to get a basic understanding how it works.
There's no spam involved. You don't get contacted by anyone unless they are in your "friend list." If they get into your list and spam you, you simply remove them. No big.
They are monitoring the site very strictly for adult content and I'm very pleased. But why take my word for it...go check it out yourself:

To be a pyramid scheme they would have to be taking money form the users, but so far I don't see that happening. It's just a kewl idea that may work or may cause the owners of the site to go belly up. Either way no skin off my nose.

When I first saw this I thought it was a scam for sure, but now that I'm reading some of the comments I guess not. Although you only get like five bucks a month at the most, still pretty cool to earn money for wasting time. Too bad they filter "adult content", could've become the biggest porn network ever lol Free porn!

What makes Yuwie so attractive as a business opportunity compared to other Network Marketing Opportunities?
Here is a list of the main reasons I feel Yuwie ranks as the very best opportunity on the Internet.
- Yuwie is 100% Free.
You don't have to explain to anyone why it's the best investment that they will ever make. My theory is why should you have to pay money to promote a company? Most companies charge a set fee each month and tell you that you can be in profit after sponsoring a few people. People everywhere are tired of losing their hard earned money. After they find out that their friends and contacts have better things to do with their money, they drop out and go on to the next best thing.
- Millions of people are already familiar with Social Networking sites.
You don't have to learn anything difficult. Most of us online already send messages, upload photos and talk to friends.
Our job is to show people how they can get paid for the activities they are already doing online. No need to change the way we do things.
- No software to download.
Other ad based companies require a download of software or toolbar.
With Yuwie, you just go to the site, sign in and you are ready to go.
- No Products to stock.
I have been involved in product based companies before and you always wind up using the products yourself and paying a fortune for them. The company tells you no investment required but you can not sell products from an empty wagon. In one health food related business I ran, my garage was full of the products and I had to order about $10,000 a month to stay in qualification. -Noel S.
- Yuwie is International.
We have the whole world at our fingertips to share Yuwie. I think it is really good for people to develop friendships everywhere. It's time we started spreading more goodwill among all of our International neighbors.
- Everyone has an equal chance to earn high commissions.
You don't have to be a superstar salesman or public speaking expert.
Sponsor a few who each do the same and you can easily attain the 10th level in Yuwie. There are people already on the 10th level in just a couple of months. If it takes you a year or two, isn't that worth working for? If you are working a JOB, Yuwie can be your exit strategy.
- Yuwie appeals to all ages as young as 14.
That's a lot of people that can get involved compared to other online opportunities. A person could sponsor their whole family and each could help each other. With the economy the way it is, working at home could be an attractive and safer alternative than a part-time job for the teens.
- Since Yuwie is free, no one can holler scam or pyramid.
Some opportunities allow you to join for free but then you have to pay an upgrade to earn on various levels.
- Yuwie is fun and addictive like a game.
There is no reason for anyone to quit. In many opportunities, when a person is not making enough income to cover expenses, they will drop out in 2 - 3 months.

no, it's an invitation for a bunch of lazy shmucks to SPAM every legit (and non-legit) venue of other social networking sites. Every other message is some numbskull hoping that someone will click on their little link instead of the other 30 below it.
I won't try it, but it doesn't seem to be a pyramid scheme as apparently it does not require a fee to begin. It is, however, annoying.
- Yuwie Lover, October 29, 2007
-
My husband and I have been on Yuwie since mid July and we have made almost $200. Since we have paid no $$, we have netted $200 . . . that is $200 more than I have made on my MySpace or my Blogger and I'm doing the exact same thing. We expect to make around $300 for JUST October and so far it shows no signs of slowing down. And, we did receive our first check from Yuwie via PayPal last week so it's not all empty promises . . . Yuwie delivered! I'm really exicted about the opportunity. I have nothing to lose and if it stops growing, hey - I'm liking $300 a month for spending money!!

The way I see it, this is a pyramid scheme without the illegal start up fee. check out this article:http://www.webware.com/8301-1_109-9795029-2.html The guy makes some great points especially how you CAN make money on facebook... it just requires some skill and creativity because facebook allows developers to put ads in their applications. If you have a creative, popular application with a google adsense in it it could end up making you a boatload of money. Yuwie is already so big that the people stuck at the bottom of the pyramid will barely make any money and it's frankly a poorly made site with terribly annoying ads.
- chris, October 31, 2007

This does work like {Multi-Level Marketing}. But I don't think thats a bad thing.
And, what is a pyramid scheme anyways? Maybe you work for a pyramid scheme.

Pribs, 1 day, 6 hours ago "The way I see it, this is a pyramid scheme without the illegal start up fee."

I think most people in Yuwie should take a look at this Free report at The Yuwie Scam
There is more to Yuwie then meets the eye. It's a little controversial, but you for sure will find it helpfull if you continue to promote Yuwie after you read it.

In order to be a pyramind scheme (at least in the US) they must be able to prove that the sole financial disbersement of your pyramid relies on recruiting and, recruitment fees. Multi-Level Marketing differs in the sense that even the last man on the totem pole has an opportunity to make some money due to the sales of items or services. Most often times noone is required to invest in order to be involved with a legitimate MLM program.
Another similiar site, PopVent.com has a multi-tiered affiliate program whereby affiliates earn from not only their efforts but also from their sub-affiliates efforts. But the earnings are based on everything from the sale of their VideoPhone Services, to the sale of their Advertising slots throughout the site.
Hence, anyone at any level is able to actually earn income without ever losing money because both Popvent and Yuwie are free to join. And PopVent actually offers multiple services that you generate commissions from should you decide to be apart of their revenue sharing program.
A pyramid structure becomes illegal when it can be substantiated that the people on the bottom level, will be unable to recoup their investment which means that the earning potential is no longer sustainable.
Since neither PopVent.com nor Yuwie.com require an investment; and because PopVent.com actually offers services that are valuable for their voluntary, tiered affiliates to resell, they are not illegal pyramid schemes.
The one area I could see Yuwie potentially running into a while in is the fact that they "force" everyone to be affiliates, and placed into someone else's downline. They would come out alot better if they gave you the "option" to share in their revenue rather than assume that everyone belongs under everyone.
Wow.....that's a mouthful, hope it makes sense to the mis-informed. With that being said, I am a member of both sites and so far i've earned about $1.50 with Yuwie after 2 months and over $300 in commissions with PopVent during the same timeframe.

I find Yuwie to be a very interesting experiment in marketing field of social networking.
What I will be more interested to see is if they topple Myspace in such stakes.
Remeber that Murdock bought out Myspace for over 500 million. Why did he do it? Because there is a tone of money to be made form such socila sites.
I was so intrigued by the concept i have actually written a blog post on the subject - http://thewebtrafficco.com/ecommerce-web-traffic-monthly/yuwie-social-network-to-become-more-popular-than-myspace/
It will be very interesting to see if 1) Yuwie will be a success and 2) if the business model takes off and we see a whole heap of other sites popping up.
Although I have only been on Yuwie once, I have yet to see a lot of advertising bar Google adwords. Do they plan on more advertising options will be one of the key questions.

OK some of you peole think that Yuwie is a pyramid scheme ! IT is not any thing Like that !
I joined way back in july theyonly had 20,000 members TODAY 295,850 and 60,000 NEW per month I have referred my self 30 people MY whole tree now has 65 people down to level 4
SO far small money made about $5 per month
BUT your 1st downline goes wide left to right to infinity when i get 100 referrals then down to 10th level with say about 2000 total each making me a few cents per month then what happens $1400 per month free at average 7 cents per month !
Problem is getting my referrrals to market their links and get their own downline growing
BUT i have free resources availble for them to use and it's working ! TRue it is MLM but isnt that what made real world bussinesse world wide billion doallr giants ! IBM ; MAC DONALD's Burger KING SONY . Panasonic etc.. all started out from one place then built another then another till they had thousands of offices all over the country !
AS J paul Getty said "I'd rather have 10% effort from 100 people than 100% of My own !

Seems like you guy's know what your talking about. But I heard alot of lazy attitude's above and with that kind of positive thinking, you will get know where on Yuwie. Their are lots of user's on Yuwie who are making incredible income's doing what they like to do on the internet, Making friend's and respecting their profile as you wish yours to be respected. People who spend 2 - 3 hour's a day on Facebook/Myspace would be able to generate a serious income. So, Yuwie is not for everyone, especially the lazy people. And about the bots, there are always going to be bot's! No matter where . . . so why not get use to it. Yuwie is not a sceme, I jsut read in a blog today believe it or not, A friend of mine is making $6,000.00 a month just for conversating with his friends!

I just signed up to see what the fuss is about. Here are my initial thoughts: 1) this site is frustratingly slow and is already WASTING my time. 2) this site is messy. Very messy. Shit flashing at me everywhere. I can't work out which bits are meant to be my account and which bits are ads. I thought the same thing about MySpace though. Facebook clearly shits on Yuwie for user-friendliness. 3) Everything I click on involves the reloading of the page and OMG I can't believe how slow it is(did I mention that before?)! 5) Wow, it just redirected me onto some other ad page when I just wanted to go back a page - how annoying! 6) did I mention the speed, or lack thereof? 7) yep, I've been redirected to another ad again, this time just from clicking on the search tab! My analysis: They'll have to pay me a damn lot to network on their site. It just seems to be a spam super highway to me, and I don't particularly like spam. Is it worth a few extra $$ a month to network with my mates on Yuwie instead of Facebook? No. I'd get more satisfaction looking for coins on the footpath, thanks!!!

Yuwie can very well be a grand site to play in because of this... The last I have read about how many users are on the site... there are over 400,000 and this is growing rapidly... Yuwie can easily be used as free advertising... Place your content on yewie, which is very easy to do and then place links and info to what it is you are selling... Baiscally free advertising to sell your product
