Vanessa Fox Gets Screwed

I was analyzing Vanessa Fox's blog (which I highly recommend subscribing to) today and it seems that she is being screwed by social media sites. Not in the sense that they are intentionally doing bad things to her, but her blog doesn't seem to get any social media love.

Her blog's domain name is vanessafoxnude.com and she has written some great content that should have done really well on social sites like Digg. Articles such as why I will read your blog but not watch your video, when email turns on you and devours your soul, or seven life-saving tips for frequent travelers should have done well throughout the social web. I think the domain maybe tripping filters or users are seeing it and jumping to conclusions that it is a porn website.

Anyone else have any ideas on why she isn't doing well on social media sites?

I'd say it's almost definitely the URL - even though I trust Pronet, I still saw the URL and wondered it it was a practical joke on your part to send us to a p0rn site.

I'd really avoid clicking on that URL from a work computer - it's not worth getting fired to read a blog. Even if it is an innocent site, I'm sure if IT did an audit they might not think so.

I'd say it was a very poor choice in domain names on her part. She should probably think of rebranding her blog. Don't get me wrong, it is cute, but it could cause problems if taken out of context in the work environment.

Vanessa choose that name since I guess there's an adult actress who shares her name. So she's being cheeky about it.

I wonder how her coworkers might feel talking to a female having a website with a domain name like that.. Sure takes a load of guts and insanity. What she can do is, sell off the name at a very good rate and transfer contents to a new blog.
