Scary Marketing

Fear appeal is something that marketers have been using for centuries. When you want people to buy a product you don't always have to tell them all the benefits of using it, but instead you can show them what will happen if they don't use the product. If you scare people enough they will remember your product and buy it.

That's the law of the land for precautionary products (best combined with promoting the peace of mind after having made the wise decision).

Fear is a powerful motivator. I just don't like to be marketed to in a harsh manner or feel paranoid after the message is gone...then it gets on my nerves

Holy crap. That is the scariest thing I have seen in a long time. All the while I thought something like Saw 3 was bad, this is the tops.

While this may be really scary, Fear coupled with statistics (exaggerated) are even more effective.
