MuseStorm makes widgets easy

Widgets have been a hot topic lately and it seems more and more companies are getting into it due to their effect on website traffic and brand recognition. Although widgets sound like a great thing for everyone to have, the problem with them is that not everyone has the technical know how to create them. Because of this a company called MuseStorm recently launched into private beta looking to solve this pain for publishers.

MuseStorm

MuseStorm provides a widget engine and distribution service that enables you to syndicate your content to millions of blogs, social networks and personal websites through 3 simple steps:

  1. First, create widgets from your content without having any programming knowledge.
  2. Then let people easily place your widgets on their blogs, social networks and any other website they want.
  3. Lastly, track your widget distribution and effectiveness through analytics.

I have not used MuseStorm yet because it is in closed beta, but it looks like a great concept. As a blogger or website owner one of the things you may strive for is to increase your traffic. Widgets are a great way to do this because it will create links into your site which will increase your traffic and potentially even increase your search engine rankings. Just look at Flickr and Technorati, thousands of blogs link back to them through widgets which helps them rank very well on the search engines. So whether you plan on using MuseStorm or not, I definitely recommend that you give widgets a try because it can have a positive effect on your traffic.

There is also a site called Widgetbox that does something similar and is open to everyone right now. Although I think you do need some technical knowledge to create a widget from this site.
