Make Your Online Profiles Work For You

When you have a strong online presence on multiple popular websites (especially socially driven sites), apart from using your ranking on these sites to drive traffic to good content, you can also use it to get traffic back to yourself.

For example, I have relatively popular profiles on both Digg and Netscape. My profile on Digg has had over 36,000 views, and my Netscape profile has had over 100,000 views.

By simply inserting links to other sites that I write for (or have written for), into my profile, I have managed to get quite a bit of referral traffic back to these sites.

This is especially true since Digg finally just started allowing 'My Website' to be a hyperlink again.
