Increase your visibility on blog search engines
Blog search engines such as Technorati, sphere, and Ice Rocket are great ways to bring more people to your site. What I really like about blog search engines is the people who use them tend to be the early adopters and the social media crowd. This should be your initial target audience. They're the ones that will spread your message, of course provided they like what they see.
Blog search engines can also serve as powerful weapons for link building. Often times when other bloggers do research they will browse through blog search engines to find relevant information. If they come across your blog posts and find the content useful they will usually link to your site. This can be a great kick start to your buzz marketing.
Here are some tips to increase your visibility on blog search engines...
Make sure you ping all the blog search engines with every new post that your write. Ping services are available and they will automatically ping every one of these blog search engines when you post new entries.
Create an account with Technorati. When you create a new account you can select 20 unique tags for your site. Every time you post something new it will automatically list your site for searches performed on that keyword tag.
Use Technorati tags. Your account on Technorati is limited to 20 tags, but that doesn't mean you can't be included for more. When you write a new entry put in tags on the bottom that are relevant to your entry.
Content is king. Bottom line is that you have to write good unique content. Try to be controversial, or be the first one to break news, this will increase your chances of being linked to.
Increase your link popularity. Technorati ranks blogs based on the amount of links have you coming in from other blogs. The higher your link count the easier your blog will be found on these search engines.
As blog search engines continue to increase in popularity it's going to be more and more important to be highly visible in the results.
