Creative commercials that you’ll never forget

Neil Patel

Chances are you spend hours everyday watching TV shows, which means you watch hundreds of new commercials on a daily basis. The worst part about watching all those commercials is that most of them are dull and humorless which is why they are not memorable or effective, but every once in a while a few companies take the time to come up with creative commercials that are worth watching.
Sony Bravia

Honda

Toyota

Pepsi

Dove

Xbox

Should have had the Honda advert where the car rolls off the ramp through a series of events that are all made of parts of the car.
If you have seen it you will know what I am talking about.

  7. Markus says:

    Awesome collection!
The only one I would add is the Citreon transformer ad. Probably my all time favourite.

  8. Ed says:

    Wow…what a collection!
I wonder if the Carlton advert really did have that many people, it would be particularly cunning if, in-fact, it wasn

  9. Great collection of ads there, added you as a daily link on my blog.

  10. Adam says:

The Ipod commercial? really? Especially following the Accord commercial. The difference was so night and day it was like comparing the Mona Lisa with my 3 year olds scribbles. Other then that good collection.

Anche questo e’ un dato di fatto…
Guardate queste 3 publicita…, sono tutte basate sullo stesso concetto del “Domino” :)

The new Bravia commercial with the exploding paint is also quite good.
    Commercials I’ve never forgotten:
    - Zest “Zestfully Clean”. (Do I look clean to you? Surprise. Hard water leaves ….).
    - VW “Pink Moon”. Also, “Clutch Foot” (a woman working out in a gym, working only on her left leg. guy asks her “clutch foot?” she says “yes”, commercial fades to “new volkswagens are coming”. great capture of excitement for the upcoming models)

  15. armen says:

can’t believe you dont have the classic “got milk” commercials like aaaahruon bhuure. not to mention the fedex caveman clip.

Cool collection of commercials…you said that dull and humorless advertising is not memorable or effective. It makes wonder, what conditions does a commercial have to meet to be “effective.” And what exactly does that mean anyways? In addition to the ambiguity of defining “effectiveness,” how do we measure it?
A few months ago, I saw a series of commercials by a company called “Head On” on late night tv I think I was watching cheaters or something equally trashy. They just kept repeating “HEAD ON!” over and over though out the entire commercial. By the end, I wanted to kill myself.
Last night I brought the commercial up to my friend, and we talked about how annoying it was for the better part of 10 minutes. Is that an effective commercial? I remember the brand and talk about it, but hate it with every bone in my body.

  19. Neil Patel says:

Ryan, I would say the Head On commercials were effective. They were so irritating that people remembered the brand and talked about the commercials.
As for the word “effectiveness” I probably should have not used that word in the blog post. Like you mentioned it is very vague and we are not always able to measure a commercials effectiveness.

  20. depi says:

Hi Neil, thanks for the cool video ads. It is interesting to see, how popular are the “domino effect” ads. It’s really interesting too see what will be at the end, and there is always some big surprise.
So thanks for them, I will link to your article on the weekend in my regular Weekend links (in my Slovak blog)
