Algorithmically Generate The Best Title for Digg
A good title that accurately presents your content in a catchy and unique manner that will most appeal to your target audience, is very important. We have expounded on this idea many times before. Here's a quick way to check how good your title is, and its chances of success on Digg, before you actually publish an article (or submit it to Digg).
We have previously discussed the importance of titles and descriptions on Digg, the 10 most popular brands on Digg, and how to write the right title for Digg. While all of these articles give you tips on title-writing, this small application by Mitchell Harper actually analyzes your titles and descriptions and tells you how well they will do on Digg.
To entertain my fascination with Digg I decided to write a Windows program that would comparatively analyze the content of articles posted on Digg with the content of those I've come up with to tell me whether or not my articles stand a chance of getting to Digg's front page.
Simply type in the title and summary of the article they way you're thinking of submitting it, and click 'Calculate Digg-a-Meter Result'. The program will analyze the information you have provided and compare it with that of other articles that have succeeded on Digg in the past and give you a statistical probability of your article reaching the Digg front-page.

While the program is definitely not perfect, I think this is a right step in automating the social media optimization of written content. So the next time you're planning to execute the perfect Digg submission, give this software a try.

Upon trying the headlines and descriptions of articles that I've gotten to the homepage, it returned between 0% and 5%. A fascinating idea, and I'd certainly like to see more of this type of thinking, but the basic Digg submission rules I use, and the qualities that lead to a homepage submission, are probably difficult to detect through comparison.
- Relate the content directly to the Digg community
- Present a strong opinion, conflict, ask a question or propose an idea that generates an immediate response
- The point is not to tease the content - give away the entire story in the headline.

I have a strong feeling, that this tool does nothing but count the words Linux, Apple and Microsoft.
It doesn't even care if I use English or German language.
